Ihr Sternlein, still in der Höhe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
Ihr Sternlein, still in der Höhe,
Ihr Sternlein, spielend im Meer,
Wenn ich von ferne daher
So freundlich euch leuchten sehe,
So wird mir von Wohl und Wehe
[Mein]1 Busen so bang und so schwer.

Es zittert von Frühlingswinden
Der Himmel im flüssigen Grün;
Manch Sternlein sah ich entblühn,
Manch Sternlein sah ich entschwinden;
Doch kann ich das schönste nicht finden,
Das früher dem Liebenden schien.

Nicht kann ich zum Himmel mich schwingen,
Zu suchen den freundlichen Stern;
Stets hält ihn die Wolke mir fern!
Tief unten da möcht' es gelingen,
Das friedliche Ziel zu erringen!
Tief unten da ruht' ich so gern!

Was wiegt ihr im laulichen Spiele,
Ihr Lüftchen, den [schwankenden]2 Kahn?
O treibt ihn auf [rauherer]3 Bahn
Hernieder in's Wogengewühle!
Laßt tief in der wallenden Kühle
Dem lieblichen Sterne mich nahn!

De lieflijke ster
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
O sterretjes, stil aan de hemel,
O sterretjes, spelend in zee,
Als ik van ver op de aard'
Aanschouw jullie lief gewemel,
Dan word ik van vreugd en van weedom
Van binnen zo bang en bezwaard.

Nu rimpelt door lentewinden
De hemel in 't waat'rige veen
Veel sterretjes zag ik bijeen,
Veel sterretjes zag ik verzwinden;
Toch kan ik het mooiste niet vinden
Dat vroeger mij, minnaar, toescheen.

Ik kan tot de hemel niet reiken,
Op zoek naar die vriend'lijke ster;
Steeds houden de wolken haar ver.
Diep onder, daar kon wel eens blijken,
Dat 'k vrede en rust kan bereiken,
Diep onder, het is nog zo ver!

Wat plaagstootjes laat je me voelen,
O windjes, die 't bootje duwt aan?
Kom, drijf het naar ruwere baan,
Omlaag waar de golven echt woelen!
Laat diep mij daaronder in 't koele
Naar 't lieflijke sterretje gaan!
