Doch fließen warme Wogen,
Doch klingt ein Liebeston!

But the sparkling of the stars
Still exerts power over us.
And when we see it shining
From the far, far distance,
Then we who are His think of
The [second] coming of our Lord.
He appeared once
In a blessed time long ago,
Thereupon the Wise Men
Were immediately ready to serve Him.
Springtime has passed,
Summer has flown:
Yet warm waves flow,
Yet the sound of love rings out!
It [runs]2 from out of Jesus' heart,
It [speaks]2 from out of Jesus' mouth,
A wellspring of joy and pain,
Now just as it did back then.
We wish to fix our gaze on Thee,
Oh light that burns eternally,
We wish to prepare ourselves
