Noch stehn die Bäume dürr und bar Um deinen Weg herum Und strecken, eine Bettlerschar, Nach dir die Arme stumm. Frühblumen wähnten dich schon hier, Frost bringt sie um ihr Glück, Sie sehnten sich heraus nach dir Und können nicht zurück. Die Schwalbe fliegt bestürzt umher Und ruft nach dir voll Gram, Bereut schon, daß sie übers Meer Zu früh herüberkam.
