Hvor Palmen svaier stolt og smukt,
I Krans om Oceanets Bugt,
Jeg stak mit Skib i Brand.

Ombord jeg steg på Slettens Skib,
Et Skib på fire Ben.
Det skummed under Piskens Hieb,
Jeg er en flygtig Fugl, o grib,
Jeg kviddrer på en Gren!

Anitra, du er Palmens, Most,
Det må jeg sande nu...!
Ja, selv Angoragjedens Ost
Er neppe halvt sa söd en Kost,

J'ai pris la mer par une brise du nord
pendant que de belles femmes m'ont perdu
et pleuraient sur la plage au bord de la mer.

Vers le sud ma quille a coupé
l'eau salée des courants.
Là où les palmiers orgueilleux se balancent.
entourant une baie de l'océan,
J'ai mis le feu à mon bateau.

J'ai grimpé sur un vaisseau du désert,
un bateau à quatre pattes.
Il écumait sous les coups du fouet.
Je suis un oiseau qui vole ; attrapez-moi,
je pépie sur une branche !

Anitra, tu es du vin de palme,
maintenant je dois l'admettre !
Oui, même le fromage de chèvre angora
N'est pas à moitié aussi doux,
Anitra, ah, que toi.
