Gott gab uns diese Erde Mit Allem, was darauf. Vinga, anem a la joiosa cacera, vosaltres, caçadors, anem a la batuda! Volem encalçar el cérvol, el noble cérvol roig: el dia apunta en la fresca, el cérvol torna del camp; vinga, cap als matossars a on ell fa la muda. Déu ens ha donat aquesta terra amb tot el que hi ha al damunt. Ens ha ensenyat a rastrejar la caça, ens ha donat fusells, ens ha donat ulls clars i mans fermes, a més a més. – Ara digueu, de què serviria si tot això restés en indolent repòs? Ens ha donat el sol i la pluja, i coratge a dins dels cors, el vent ha de bufar, els ocells han de cridar, els anys han d’anar i venir, i tot té la seva llei, -- per unificar-ho tot cal la salutació i el tret del caçador! El bosc cauria adormit, el feram es malejaria en la indolència, els cérvols esdevindrien ovelles, els camins i els senders desapareixerien; si no hi haguessin joiosos caçadors i alegres esclats de fusell que fan bellugar el bosc i el feram amb xiulets i el so dels corns. Així doncs, visca la cacera, la tempesta constant del món! La gent trista es pot turmentar, els gasius poden glatir per diners! Nosaltres, tots els matins i les tardes glatim per fer accions vigoroses; les dones, els fills, els deutes i els maldecaps que el cel els guardi a casa.
