These two eyes are so thoughtful, So loyal, so full of feeling, So sweet and so affectionate, So expressive of joy, so expressive of pain, They are, o beloved, your eyes, Into which I would gaze with pleasure, And I don’t know, you dear child, Whether your eyes are black or blue. The most beautiful eyes deceive, As do all the tiny stars, With their fire They contrive their way into the heart. Take this, you men, under consideration And always beware the dazzle of eyes, For two little eyes will twinkle for you, Do not look deeply, too deeply within.
