Nicht dort allein, 
Woll' auch uns Armen 
Erlöser sein! 
Nimm von uns milde 
Die Sorge, den Schmerz 
Und tröste das wilde,

Springtime prayer

[There is] a shining and a ringing
Everywhere around:
Springtime lifted its wings
And flew through the valley
And released from ice
The jubilant brook
And quietly wakened
The blossoms with a kiss . . . .

Oh, have mercy
Not only there,
Be to us poor wretches
A saviour as well!
Gently take from us 
The anxiety, the pain,
And comfort the wild,
Peaceless heart. --
