Eine kleine goldengelbe Wolke
ruht zur Nacht an eines steilen Felsens Schulter.
Eilig weht sie fort schon früh am Morgen,
spielend froh im azurblauen Himmel;

lässt zurück nur eine feuchte Fährte,
letzte Spur am Haupt des alten Felsens.
Tief in Sinnen steht er da, in einsamkeit versunken;
und ganz leise weint er in den Morgen.

Een goudgeel wolkje
rust 's nachts tegen de schouder van een steile rots.
Al vroeg in de morgen waait het haastig voort,
zich vermeiend in de azuurblauwe hemel;

't laat slechts een vochtig spoor na,
een laatste zweempje bij de top van de oude rots.
Diep in gedachten staat hij daar, in eenzaamheid verzonken;
en heel stilletjes schreit hij in de morgen.
