   Wie lange noch dein Antlitz mir verbergen?
3. Wie lange muß ich meinen Geist mit Sinnen,
   Mein Herz mit Sorgen täglich quälen?
   Wie lange noch mein Feind obsiegen?

   Erleuchte meine Augen wieder, 
   Daß ich des Todes nicht entschlafe.

Hoe lang mij nog uw aangezicht verbergen?
2 Hoe lang ook moet ik nog mijn geest met piek'ren,
3 Mijn hart met zorgen daag'lijks kwellen?
4 Hoe lang zal nog mijn vijand winnen? Kijk omlaag! Verhoor mij toch! Ach, Eeuwige, mijn God!
Laat licht weer in mijn ogen komen, dat 'k aan de doodsslaap niet ten prooi val.
5 Anders zegt mijn vijand: 'Die overwon ik!'
En juichen tegenstanders om mijn neergang.
6 Maar ik verlaat mij op uw goedheid, mijn hart juicht blij om uw bescherming.
