Auf sonniger Straße gerollt;
Hat nur ein Steinchen, ein Blatt
Zum Glücklichsein gewollt.

Jahre verschwelgten. Ich suche matt
Jene sonnige Straße heut,
Wieder zu lernen, wie man am Blatt,
Wie man am Steinchen sich freut.

The children's sunny street

romped about on a sunny street;
With only a small stone or leaf
I was delighted.

Years are recalled. I seek weakly
Such a sunny street today,
To learn again how with a leaf,
How with a stone one could be pleased.
