Hier steht der Wand'rer nun
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE ITA
Aria: Lukas
 Hier steht der Wand'rer nun,
 verwirrt und zweifelhaft,
 wohin den Schritt er lenken soll.
 Vergebens suchet er den Weg;
 ihn leitet weder Pfad, noch Spur.
 Vergebens strenget er sich an,
 und watet durch den tiefen Schnee;
 er find't sich immer mehr verirrt.
 Jetzt sinket ihm der Mut,
 und Angst beklemmt sein Herz,
 da er den Tag sich neigen sieht,
 und Müdigkeit, und Frost
 ihm alle Glieder lähmt.
 Doch plötzlich trifft sein spähend Aug
 der Schimmer eines nahen Lichts,
 da lebt er wieder auf;
 vor Freuden pocht sein Herz.
 Er geht, er eilt der Hütte zu,
 wo starr und matt er Labung hofft.

Ici le voyageur se tient maintenant
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Air : Lucas
 Ici le voyageur se tient maintenant,
 Décontenancé et incertain,
 Vers où il doit conduire ses pas.
 Il cherche en vain son chemin ;
 Aucun sentier ni trace ne le guident.
 En vain il se fatigue
 Et patauge dans la neige profonde ;
 Il se trouve toujours plus égaré.
 Maintenant le courage lui manque,
 Et l'angoisse oppresse son cœur,
 Car il voit le jour décliner,
 Et la fatigue et le froid
 Paralysent tous ses membres.
 Mais soudain son œil aux aguets aperçoit
 L'éclat d'une lumière proche.
 Alors il vit à nouveau ;
 Son cœur bat de joie,
 Il avance, il se hâte vers la chaumière
 Où engourdi et las il espère du réconfort.
