Der Hahnenruf

Schon [wird es]1 im Osten helle, Bleich die Sterne flimmern all. Und der Hahn fliegt auf die Mauer, Ruft den Tag mit lautem Schall. Ziehn die Wächter von den Wachen, Wasseruhr ist auch zu End. Noch hört man ein spätes Lachen, Noch beim Mahl die Lampe brennt. Weg der Mond, die Sterne schwinden, Morgengrau kommt schon herbei, In den Toren Schlüssel knarren, Und es tönt der Elstern Schrei.
