Горица листом листала,
У њојзи братац и сеја,
Сестрица брату говори:
"Зашто ми, брате, не дођеш?" --
"Ја би ти, сејо, дошао,
"Али ми не да туђинка,
"Туђинка, добра девојка;
"Ја добра коња оседлам,
"Туђинка ми га раседла;
"Ја бритку сабљу припашем,
"Туђинка ми је отпаше:
""Куда ћеш, драги, куда ћеш?
""Равно је поље широко,
""Мутна је вода дубока,
""Не иди, драги, не иди.""

Gürte den scharfen Säbel um,
Aber die Fremde schnallt ihn ab;
"Wohin, o Liebster, gehest Du?
Breit und lang ist die Ebene!
Tief ist das trübe Wasser, tief!
