Wir heben die Reusen Den Schilfbach entlang, Und ruhn bei den Schleusen, Zu sondern den Fang. Goldweiden beschatten Das moosige Dach; Wir schlummern auf Matten Im kühlen Gemach. Mit rothen Korallen Prangt Spiegel und Wand, Den Estrich der Hallen Deckt silberner Sand. Das Gärtchen daneben Grünt ländlich umzäunt Von kreutzenden Stäben Mit Baste vereint. L'activité du pêcheur Donne une humeur vaillante ! Nous avons en héritage Les biens des flots. Nous ne creusons pas pour des trésors, Nous ne labourons aucun champ ; Nous récoltons dans nos filets, Nous pêchons notre or. Nous levons les nasses Le long des roseaux, Et nous nous reposons près des écluses, Pour trier les prises. Des saules dorés font de l'ombre Sur le toit moussu ; Nous nous endormons sur les matelas Dans le pièce fraîche. Avec des coraux rouges Brillent le miroir et le mur. Le carrelage des salles Est recouvert de sable argenté. Le petit jardin à côté Verdoie rustique, entouré De bâtons croisés Attachés avec des lianes. Sur le visage des petits garçons Sourit un esprit joyeux. Ils quittent la pièce Au lever du jour ; Ils plongent et nagent Dans le lac glacé, Et pieds nus ils escaladent Les rochers enneigés.
