In stiller Bucht, bei finstrer Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT
In stiller Bucht, bei finstrer Nacht,
Schläft tief die Welt im Grunde,
Die Berge rings stehn auf der Wacht,
Der Himmel macht die Runde,
Geht um und um,
Ums Land herum
Mit seinen goldnen Scharen,
Die Frommen zu bewahren.

Kommt nur heran mit eurer List,
Mit Leitern, Strick und Banden,
Der Herr doch noch viel stärker ist,
Macht euren Witz zuschanden.
Wie wart ihr klug! -
Nun schwindelt Trug
Hinab vom Felsenrande -
Wie seid ihr dumm! o Schande!

Gleichwie die Stämme in dem Wald
Wolln wir zusammenhalten,
Ein' feste Burg, Trutz der Gewalt,
Verbleiben treu die alten.
Steig, Sonne, schön!
Wirf von den Höhn
Nacht und die mit ihr kamen,
Hinab in Gottes Namen.

De nachtwacht der eedgenoten
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Stil in een bocht, in duist're nacht
Rust diep het dal hier onder,
De bergen staan rondom op wacht,
De hemel maakt zijn ronde,
Gaat om en om,
Om 't land rondom,
Om met zijn gouden scharen
De vromen te bewaren.

Kom nu maar op met jullie list,
Met ladders, touw en banden,
De Heer, wiens grote kracht je mist,
Maakt jullie truc te schande.
Wat was je sluw! --
Nu tuimelt ruw
't Bedrog neer van de rotsen --
O wee! Je blijkt de botsten!

Net als de stammen in het woud
Will'n wij bijeen ons houden,
Een vaste burcht, keurbende stout,
Dat blijven steeds de ouden.
Stijg, zon, mooi op!
Werp van de top
Nacht en die met hem kwamen
Naar onder in Gods name.
