Ich sehe wie in einem Spiegel
In der Geliebten Auge mich;
Gelöst vor mir ist jedes Siegel,
Das mir verbarg mein eignes Ich.

Durch deinen Blick ist mir durchsichtig
Mein Herz geworden und die Welt,
Was in ihr wirklich und was nichtig,
Ist vor mir ewig aufgehellt.

So wie durch meinen Busen gehet
Hier deines Herzens stiller Schlag,
So fühl' ich, was die Schöpfung drehet,
Vom ersten bis zum jüngsten Tag.

Die Welten dreh'n sich all' um Liebe,
Lieb' ist ihr Leben, Lieb' ihr Tod;
Und in mir wogt ein Weltgetriebe
Von Liebeslust und Liebesnoth.

Der Schöpfung Seel' ist ew'ger Frieden,
Ihr Lebensgeist ein steter Krieg.

Em veig com en un mirall
en els ulls de la meva estimada;
davant meu s'han desfermat tots els segells
que m'ocultaven el meu propi jo.

Mercès al teu esguard, el meu cor
ha esdevingut transparent i el món,
tot allò que en ell és real i el que és fútil,
se m'ha aclarit per sempre més.

Quan el tranquil batec del teu cor
aquí travessa el meu pit,
sento allò que fa girar la Creació
des del primer, fins al dia final.

L'univers gira entorn de l'amor,
amor és la seva vida, amor la seva mort
i a dintre meu barbull un enrenou mundà
de desig i necessitat d'amor.

L'ànima de la Creació és la pau eterna,
el seu esperit vital, una continua lluita.
I així la pau m'ha estat atorgada,
victòria sobre mort i vida, victòria!

Jo parlo serè a la meva estimada del cor
com la flor a llum del sol:
tu em dónes el goig, tu em dónes el patiment!
Jo visc per ser teu i per tu jo moriré!
