Fort streift von hier das Kind der Lüfte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT FRE ITA SPA
Tenor-Solo
 Fort streift von hier das Kind der Lüfte
 Über Ägyptens Königsgrüfte,
 Von Palmenhainen hehr umrauscht;
 Jetzt sieht sie in Rosettas Tal
 Dem Nesterbau'n der Tauben zu,
 Jetzt lauscht sie Schwänen, weiß wie Schnee,
 Die stolz durchziehen Möris-See.
 Welch Bild! Kein sterblich' Aug' hat je
 Ein Land gesehn voll höh'rer Pracht!
 Doch eine Stille, fürchterlich,
 Liegt über diesen Himmelsfluren,
 Mit gift'gem Hauche ihre Spuren
 Verfolgend, zieht durchs Land die Pest.

Die Peri
 Für euren ersten Fall
 Wie hart, ihr Armen, büßt ihr doch,
 Habt einige Blüten aus Eden zwar noch,
 Die Schlang' überschleichet sie all'.

Da qui prende il volo la creatura dell'aria
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Tenore solo
 Da qui prende il volo la creatura dell'aria
 verso i sepolcri dei Faraoni,
 tra lo stormire dei palmizi;
 Nella valle di Rosetta ora osserva
 le colombe costruire i loro nidi,
 e ode il lieve rumore dei cigni, bianchi come la neve,
 mentre incedono solenni sul lago di Moeris.
 Spettacolo meraviglioso! Nessuno sguardo umano
 ha mai contemplato un paese più splendido!
 Ma un silenzio terribile
 si stende su queste divine contrade,
 Con il suo fiato venefico avanza,
 per quei territori, la peste.

La Peri
 Per il vostro primo peccato
 quanto è dura, o miseri,la vostra pena;
 Sui pochi fiori dell'Eden che vi sono rimasti
 continua a strisciare il serpente.
