Ach, wie richtete, so klagt' ich
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Persian (Farsi)
Our translations:  ENG
Ach, wie richtete, so klagt' ich,
Saure Weisheit, Alter, Tugend
Mich so ganz und gar zu Grunde! --

Komm und sauge, sprach mein Liebchen,
Süße Thorheit, Sünde, Jugend
Leise mir vom Rosenmunde,
Linde mir vom Lilienbusen,
Und zu neuem Tag gesunde!

I lamented thus: Ah, how
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I lamented thus: Ah, how
Sour wisdom, age, virtue
Have completely devastated me! -

Spake my love: Come and sip
Sweet folly, sin, youth
Quietly from my rosy lips,
Gently from my lily-white bosom,
And convalesce to a new day!
