Der wie der menschheit fernes qualgezisch --
Mehr als dies alles schätz ich - tiefe flasche -
Den starken balsam den ich aus dir nasche
Und der des frommen dichters müdheit bannt.
Du gibst ihm hoffnung liebe jugendkraft
Und stolz - dies erbteil aller bettlerschaft
Der uns zu helden macht und gottverwandt.

La mirada especial de les dones lleugeres
que ens contemplen com la blanca llum
de la lluna en la moguda superfície de l'aigua
veurà la seva bellesa en el bany.
L'últim cèntim de la taula de joc,
un frec bes de la escanyolida Adelina,
el so morent del violí
el llunyà xiuxiueig com torturat de la humanitat...
et valoro més que tot això, profunda ampolla
[...]
que elimina el cansament del pietós poeta.
Li donares esperança, amor, força junvenil
i orgull, aquesta part de tota mendicitat
que ens fa herois i parents de Déu.
