Glühn und leuchten grosse Sterne, 
Sonnenhaft aus tiefem Blau; 
Deine Augen, schöne Frau, 
Grüßen mich aus weiter Ferne...

Über meinen Nächten 
Weint ein unvergessenes Weh;
Daß ich deine Lilienreinheit, 
Deiner Locken Glanz und Feinheit

resplendeixen i brillen grans estrelles;

els teus ulls, bella dona, 
em saluden des d'una gran llunyania...

Durant les meves nits
plora una pena inoblidable:
que la teva puresa de lliri,
l'esplendor i la finesa dels teus rínxols
mai més els tornaré a veure.
