1  [Until the end, a psalm of David.]
   Lord, you have tested me, and you know me;
2  you know my sitting down 
   and my rising up.
3  You have understood my thoughts from afar;
   you have traced my way and my path;
4  and you have foreseen all my ways,
   for there is no speech in my tongue.
5  Behold, Lord, you know all things, the newest and the ancient.
   You formed me and placed your hand upon me.
6  Your knowledge has become wonderful to me;
   it is made strong, and I will be unworthy of it.
7  Where will I go from your spirit?
   and where will I flee from your face?
8  If I ascend into the heavens, you are there;
   if I descend into hell, you are present.
9  If I take to my wings at daybreak,
   And go to live at the ends of the sea,
10 truly your hand will fetch me there,
   and your right hand will hold me.
11 And I have said: perhaps the darkness will tread me underfoot;
   and the night my illumination in my pleasures.
12 For the darkness is not hidden from you,
   and the night is illuminated like the day:
   Its light is as its darkness.
13 For you have possessed my kidneys,
   you have supported me from my mother's womb.
14 I will acknowledge you, for you are fearfully magnified;
   your works are wonderful, and my soul is very much aware.
15 My bone is not hidden from you, which you made in secret;
   and my substance in the lower regions of the earth.
16 Your eyes have seen my imperfection,
   and all will be written in your book.
   The days will be formed, and no one in them.
17 But by me your friends will be greatly honored, O God,
   their rule greatly strengthened.
18 I will number them, and they will be multiplied more than grains of sand.
   I have risen up, and I am still with you.
19 If you will kill the sinners, O God,
   men of blood, turn aside from me:
20 for you say in your thoughts:
   They will receive your cities in vain.
21 Have I not hated those who hate you, Lord,
   and languished on account of your enemies?
22 I have hated them with perfect hatred,
   and they have become my own enemies.
23 Test me, O God, and know my heart;
   question me, and learn my paths.
24 And see if the way of iniquity is within me,
   and lead me on the eternal way.
