Schwestergruß
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Im Mondenschein
Wall' ich auf und ab,
Seh Todtenbein'
Und stilles Grab.

In Geisterhauch
Vorüber schwebt's,
Wie Flamm' und Rauch,
Vorüber bebt's; -

Aus Nebeltrug
Steigt eine Gestalt,
Ohn' Sünd und Lug
Vorüber wallt,

Das Aug so blau,
Der Blick so groß,
Wie in Himmelsau,
Wie in Gottes Schoß,

[Ein]1 weiß Gewand
Bedeckt das Bild,
In zarter Hand
Eine Lilie quillt,

In Geisterhauch
Sie zu mir spricht:
»Ich wandre schon
Im reinen Licht,

Seh Mond und Sonn'
Zu meinem Fuß,
Und leb' in Wonn',
In Engelskuß;

Und all die Lust,
Die ich empfind,
Nicht deine Brust
Kennt, Menschenkind!

Wenn du nicht laßt
Den Erdengott,
Bevor dich faßt
Der grause Tod.«

So tönt die Luft,
So saust der Wind,
Zu den Sternen ruft
Das Himmelskind,

Und eh' sie flieht,
Die weiß' Gestalt,
In frischer Blüth'
Sie sich entfalt':

In reiner Flamm'
Schwebt sie empor,
Ohne Schmerz und Harm,
Zu der Engel Chor.

Die Nacht verhüllt
Den heil'gen Ort,
Von Gott erfüllt
Sing ich das Wort.

Groet aan mijn zus
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
In maneschijn
Loop ik op en af,
Zie beenderen
En 't stille graf.

Als vluchtig spook
Zweeft iets langs mij,
Als vlam en rook
Beeft het voorbij.

Uit grijze mist
Stijgt daar een gestalt',
Die zonder list
Voorbij mij dwaalt.

Het oog zo blauw,
De blik zo groot
Als in hemelschouw,
Als in Godes schoot.

Een wit gewaad
De vorm omringt,
Een lelie zacht
Aan haar hand ontspringt.

Een fluistering
Zij tot mij richt:
'Ik wandel al
In 't pure licht,

Zie zon en maan
Onder mijn voet,
En leef voldaan
In eng'lengloed.

Wat 'k hier geniet,
En ondervind,
Dat ken jij niet,
O mensenkind!

Tenzij je laat
De aardse god,
Voordat je slaat
Het dood'lijk lot.'

Zo zingt de lucht,
Zo suist de wind,
Naar de sterren zucht
Het hemelkind,

En vóór zij gaat,
Vóór 't wit verflauwt,
In bloesemstaat
Zij zich ontvouwt;

In zuiv're vlam
Zweeft zij omhoog,
Zonder pijn en schram
Zij naar d' eng'len vloog.

De nacht verhult
Het heilig oord,
Van God vervuld
Zing ik dit woord.
