Es waren zwei Königskinder,
Die hatten einander so lieb,
Sie konnten zusammen nicht kommen,
Das Wasser war viel zu tief.

"O liebster, kannst du nicht schwimmen?
So schwimme doch her zu mir!
Drei Kerzen will ich dir anzünden,
Und die sollen leuchten dir."

Das hört eine falsche Nonne,
Die tat, als wenn sie schlief.
Sie täte die Kerzen ausblasen,
Der Jüngling ertrank so tief.

Ein Fischer wohl fischte lange,
Bis er den Toten fand:
"Nun sieh' da, du liebliche Jungfrau,
Hast hier deinen Königssohn".

Sie nahm ihn in ihre Arme
Und küßte seinen Mund:
"Ade nun, o Vater und Mutter,
Wir seh'n uns nimmermehr."

Hi havia una vegada dos fills de rei
que s’estimaven molt,
però no podien estar junts,
l’aigua era massa profunda.

“Oh estimat, no saps nedar?
Neda doncs cap a mi!
Jo encendré tres espelmes
que et faran llum.”

Això ho sentí una falsa monja
que feia com si estigués dormint.
Ella bufà i apagà les espelmes
i el jovencell s’ofegà en la fondària.

Un pescador va haver de cercar molta estona
fins que va trobar el mort:
“Mira, tu gentil donzella,
aquí tens el teu fill de rei.”

Ella el prengué en els seus braços
i besà la seva boca:
“Ara adéu pare i mare,
no ens veurem mai més.”
