Ein Fischer wohl fischte lange, Bis er den Toten fand: "Nun sieh' da, du liebliche Jungfrau, Hast hier deinen Königssohn". Sie nahm ihn in ihre Arme Und küßte seinen Mund: "Ade nun, o Vater und Mutter, Wir seh'n uns nimmermehr."

Er waren twee koningskind'ren, Die hadden elkander zo lief, Zij konden tezamen niet komen, Het water was veel te diep. Lief vriendje, kun jij niet zwemmen? Kom, zwem nu toch maar naar mij; Drie kaarsen zal ‘k voor je aansteken; Die zullen jou lichten bij. Dat hoorde een valse kwezel, Die deed alsof zij sliep. Maar ging wel de kaarsen uitblazen; De jongen verdronk, zo diep. Een visserman viste lang daar, Tot hij de dode vond: “Ziehier nu, jij lieflijke jonkvrouw, Hier heb je je koningszoon.” Zij nam hem zacht in haar armen En kuste hem op zijn mond: “Adieu, o vader en moeder, Wij zien elkaar nooit weer!”
