Vattenplask
Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Our translations:  FIN FRE
Invid palatsen
lagunens vatten
melodiskt skvalpar
i sommarnatten.

En solbrynt gosse
i sliten kappa
behagligt hvilar
på dogens trappa.

Och böljan hviskar
invid den lille
som något hemligt
hon säga ville:

"Se kungasonen!
Se gudars like!
Men skall han ärfva
sitt kungarike?

Hur än vi vandra
kring världens länder,
vid hafvets kuster,
vid floders stränder,

vi ana furstar,
där barn vi blicke,
men vuxna kungar
vi finna icke."

Confirmed with Viktor Rydberg, Dikter, Atlantis, Stockholm, 1996, page 46.

Palatsin vierellä
Language: Finnish (Suomi)  after the Swedish (Svenska)
Palatsin vierellä
laguunin vesi
liplattaa melodisesti
suviyössä.

Auringonpaahtama poika
kuluneessa takissa
lepäilee mukavasti
dogin portailla.

Ja aalto kuiskii
pienokaisen vierellä
ikäänkuin se tahtoisi kertoa
jonkin salaisuuden.

"Kas kuninkaanpoikaa!
On jumalten kaltainen!
Mutta mahtaako hän koskaan
periä kuningaskuntaansa?

Missä sitten vaellammekin
maailman eri maissa,
meren rannikoilla,
tai joen rannoilla,

vaistoamme näkevämme ruhtinaita
kun katselemme lapsia,
mutta aikuisia kuninkaita
emme löydä."
