Загремело в дали... Надвигалась гроза...
По ресницам твоим покатилась слеза...
И с безумным рыданьем к тебе я припал...
И тебе ничего, ничего не сказал.

И теперь, в эти дни, я, как прежде, один,
уж не жду ничего от грядущих годин...
В сердце жизненный звук уж давно отзвучал...
ах, зачем я тебе ничего не сказал!

Siedzieliśmy we dwoje

Siedzieliśmy we dwoje, nad brzegiem śpiącej rzeki.
Powrót rybackich łodzi wieściła cicha pieśń.
Złocista wiązka słońca na horyzoncie gasła...
I w chwili tej jam tobie ni słowa nie rzekł.

Zagrzmiało gdzieś w oddali....Burza nadciągała...
Na twoich drogich rzęsach zadrgały blaski łez...
Z rozdzierającym szlochem do ramion twych upadłem...
Lecz jam tobie  niczego, niczego nie rzekł.

Dziś, gdy mój czas upływa w dawnej samotności,
Niczego już nie żądam od nadchodzących dni...
Odgłosy życia w sercu przebrzmiały bezpowrotnie...
Ach! Czemuż jam wtedy ni słowa nie rzekł Ci!
