 Stjerner juble, Søen lyser,
 Trykker sit bankende Hjerte mod Kyst,
 Løvet nynner, Duggen danser,
 Vinden sig kaster saa kaad til mit Bryst.
 Vejrhanen synger og Taarnene nikke,
 Svendene spanke med flammende Blikke,
 Ternerne dæmpe med Haanden forgæves
 Barmen, der sælsomt uroligen hæves.
 Roserne stirre med Haand over Bryn,
 Faklerne hjælpe det daarlige Syn.
 Skoven nu aabner sit Ly,
 Hundene glamme i By,
 Stien, i stedse nærmere Bølger,
 Vugger den dristige Rytter mod Havn,
 Og i den næste Stigning, som følger,
 Slynger den ham i min aabnede Favn.

 Les étoiles jubilent, la mer brille
 Et presse contre la côte son cœur palpitant.
 La feuille fredonne, la rosée danse,
 Le vent folâtre se jette contre ma poitrine.
 La girouette chante et les tours s'inclinent,
 les garçons se pavanent avec des regards enflammés,
 Les filles répriment en vain de la main
 Leurs seins soulevés d'une étrange agitation.
 La main au-dessus des sourcils, ils fixent des roses,
 Des torches les aident à mieux voir.
 La forêt ouvre maintenant son abri,
 Les chiens aboient dans la ville,
 Le sentier en ondulations de plus en plus rapprochées
 Berce le hardi cavalier vers le port,
 Et après la dernière montée,
 Il s'élancera dans mes bras grands ouverts.
