Lieder , opus 15

by Johann Jakob Mendel (1809 - 1881)

Translations available for the entire opus: ENG FIN FRE

1. Der Liebe Sehnsucht
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wär' ich ein Vögelein,
Grüßt ich im Morgenschein,
Liebchen, dich schon!
Schwebend dir auf der Hand,
Säng' ich zu dir gewandt
Lieblichen Ton!

 ...

Wär' ich ein Brünnlein klar,
Böt' ich dir Kühlung dar,
Frischen Genuß!
Nahte dein Mund sich mir,
Quöll' ich zu Liebe dir,
Weich wie ein Kuß.

Wär' ich ein Röschen klein,
Möcht' ich recht duftend sein,
Duften für dich!
Nimmer des Dornes Wehr
Braucht' ich, kämst du daher,
Pflücktest du mich.

2. Vor ihrem Bilde
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich stand in dunklen Träumen
Und starrte ihr Bildniß an,
Und das geliebte Antlitz
Heimlich zu leben begann.

Um ihre Lippen zog sich
Ein Lächeln wunderbar,
Und wie von Wehmuthsthränen
Erglänzte ihr Augenpaar.

Auch meine Thränen flossen
Mir von den Wangen herab --
Und ach, ich kann's nicht glauben,
Daß ich Dich verloren hab'!

3. Du schönes Fischermädchen
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Du schönes Fischermädchen,
Treibe den Kahn an's Land;
Komm zu mir und setze dich nieder,
Wir kosen Hand in Hand.

Leg' an mein Herz dein Köpfchen,
Und fürchte dich nicht zu sehr,
Vertrau'st du dich doch täglich
Täglich dem wilden Meer.

Mein Herz gleicht ganz dem Meere,
Hat Sturm und Ebb' und Fluth,
Und manche schöne Perle
In seiner Tiefe ruht.
