Fyra sånger (Vier Gesänge) , opus 9

by John [Jacques] Jacobsson (1835 - 1909)

1. Die Lotosblume  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Lotosblume ängstigt
Sich vor der Sonne Pracht
Und mit gesenktem Haupte
Erwartet sie träumend die Nacht.

Der Mond, [der]1 ist ihr Buhle
Er weckt sie mit seinem Licht,
Und ihm entschleiert sie freundlich
Ihr [frommes]2 Blumengesicht,

Sie blüht und glüht und leuchtet
Und starret stumm in die Höh';
Sie duftet und weinet und zittert
Vor Liebe und Liebesweh.

2. Önskan  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: Swedish (Svenska)
Fick jag som en svala vara,
Sätta mig på vassens strå
Fick med sommarns fröjd nedfara
Uti hafvets böljor blå!
Huru ljuft vid vindens gång
Sjunga få sin afskedssång!

Eller fick som svan jag fara,
När som sommarns fröjd är slut,
Bort, der rosor blomstra klara,
Långt med solen söderut,
Och i drufvans blida skygd
Skåda der min boning bygd!

Se! som fogeln uti buren,
Är jag stängd från ljus och sol.
Kall och liflös är naturen
Nu omkring den norra pol.
Frosten täcker ängens mark,
Härjad står hvar blomsterpark.

Dock på himlen upp jag skadar,
Sommarn dit har flyttat opp.
Ack! hur allt så skönt sig bådar
Der vid stjernors ljusa lopp.
Blomstertid i himmelen
Kom till jorden snart igen!

3. Und wüßten's die Blumen, die kleinen   [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Und wüßten's die Blumen, die kleinen,
Wie tief verwundet mein Herz,
Sie würden mit mir weinen,
Zu heilen meinen Schmerz.

Und wüßten's die Nachtigallen,
Wie ich so traurig und krank,
Sie ließen fröhlich erschallen
Erquickenden Gesang.

Und wüßten sie mein Wehe,
Die [goldnen]1 Sternelein,
Sie kämen aus ihrer Höhe,
Und sprächen Trost mir ein.

[Die]2 alle können's nicht wissen,
Nur [eine]3 kennt meinen Schmerz;
[Sie]4 hat ja selbst zerrissen,
Zerrissen mir das Herz.

4. Ich wohn' in meiner Liebsten Brust  [sung text not yet checked]

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich wohn' in meiner Liebsten Brust,
in ihren stillen Träumen.
Was ist die Welt und ihre Lust?
Ich will sie gern versäumen.

Was ist des Paradies Lust
Mit grünen Lebensbäumen?
Ich wohn' in meiner Liebsten Brust
In ihren stillen Träumen!

Ich wohn' in meiner Liebsten Brust,
in ihren stille Träumen.
Ich neide keines Sternes Lust
In kalten Himmelsräumen.

Was ist die Welt und ihre Lust?
Ich will sie gern versäumen.
Ich wohn' in meiner Liebsten Brust,
in ihren stillen Träumen.
