Die Sonne ist hinabgesunken,
Es geht der müde Tag zur Ruh';
Gekehrt nach innen schließt sich trunken
Der Blume holdes Auge zu.

Doch einen letzten Strahl der Sonne
Barg sie im tiefen Kelche sacht;
Der soll von Frühlingslust und Wonne
Ein Traum ihr sein in dunkler Nacht.

So blieb auch mir von sel'gen Stunden
Nur der Erinn'rung süßer Schmerz --
Du bist die Sonne, die entschwunden,
Die Blume ist mein dunkles Herz.
