Recitative: Hélas ! Je tremble, je sens ma poitrine tout entière s'inonder d'une sueur glacée. Fuyons ! Ah, quel... quel est le chemin ? Qui me l'indique ? O Dieu ! Qu'ai-je entendu ? Que m'arrive-t-il ? O Dieu ! Qu'ai-je entendu ? Où suis-je ? Aria: Ah l'air environnant est déchiré d'éclairs, étincelle ; Il ondoie et vacille, le sol traître ! Quelle nuit profonde D'horreur m'enveloppe ! Quels fantômes funestes, Quelles alarmes sont-ce là ! Quelle cruelle épouvante Dans mon coeur !

The text appears in the play Il contraccambio ovvero L'amore alla pruova, atto I, scena VIII, as the aria of Duca Alberto di Kalitz. The author of the libretto is unknown, the play has been set by Luigi Carlini and has been staged 1823 in Naples, where the libretto has been printed (see above).
