En ce matin de printemps Si maussadement couvert et tiède Il me semble que j'ai retrouvé Le chagrin d'un amour ancien. C'est comme si doucement quelqu'un Me frappait sur l'épaule. Comme si j'entendais un murmure Comme le vol d'une colombe. On frappe à ma porte, Et il n'y a personne dehors ; Je respire un parfum du jasmin Et je n'ai pas de bouquet. Quelqu'un m'appelle au loin, Un œil me regarde, Un ancien rêve me saisit Et me mène sur son chemin.

Hab' ich tausendmal geschworen, Dieser Falschen nicht zu trauen, Und doch bin ich neugeboren, Läßt sie sich ins Auge schauen. Mag sie doch mit mir verfahren, Wie's dem stärksten Mann geschah.
