Nel giardino in riva al lago, stanno alberi antichissimi, nelle loro alte chiome a stento si scorgono gli uccelli. Gli alberi dalle alte chiome Stormiscono giorno e notte, le onde si abbattono sulla spiaggia, gli uccelli cantano soavemente. Ne nasce un suono di musica Così dolce, così pieno di malinconia, pare il canto di un amore perduto colmo di eterna nostalgia.

Lentamente la pioggia cadeva, scintillando al sole della sera; sotto di essa avanzava il viandante per strade strette con animo melanconico. Vedeva le grosse gocce brillare Cadendo attraverso i raggi dorati; le sentiva scendere fresche sul capo e diceva rabbrividendo per un dolce tormento: Ora so che un arcobaleno, Si spiega alto attorno alla mia fronte, e sul sentiero, che io ho percorso, si può scorgere fin da lontano.
