Italian (Italiano) translations of Vier Gesänge, opus 70

by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897)

1. Im Garten am Seegestade
 (Sung text)
by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), "Im Garten am Seegestade", op. 70 (Vier Gesänge) no. 1 (1877), published 1877 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Simrock
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Garten am Seegestade
Uralte Bäume stehn,
In ihren hohen Kronen
Sind kaum die Vögel zu sehn.

Die Bäume mit hohen Kronen,
Die rauschen Tag und Nacht,
Die Wellen schlagen zum Strande,
Die Vöglein singen sacht.

Das gibt ein Musizieren
So süß, so traurig bang,
Als wie verlorner Liebe
Und ewiger Sehnsucht Sang.

1. Nel giardino in riva al lago
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Nel giardino in riva al lago,
stanno alberi antichissimi,
nelle loro alte chiome
a stento si scorgono gli uccelli.

Gli alberi dalle alte chiome
Stormiscono giorno e notte,
le onde si abbattono sulla spiaggia,
gli uccelli cantano soavemente.

Ne nasce un suono di musica
Così dolce, così pieno di malinconia,
pare il canto di un amore perduto
colmo di eterna nostalgia.

2. Lerchengesang
 (Sung text)
by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), "Lerchengesang", op. 70 (Vier Gesänge) no. 2 (1877), published 1877 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Simrock
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ätherische ferne Stimmen,
Der Lerchen himmlische Grüße,
Wie regt ihr mir so süße
Die Brust, ihr lieblichen Stimmen!

Ich schließe leis mein Auge,
Da ziehn Erinnerungen
In sanften Dämmerungen
Durchweht vom Frühlingshauche.

2. Il canto delle allodole
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Eteree voci, lontane,
Di allodole celeste saluto:
Con quanta dolcezza è agitato
Il mio petto dall'amato richiamo!

Io piano chiudo i miei occhi,
e irrompono tanti ricordi
in soavi crepuscoli,
percorsi da un soffio di primavera.

3. Serenade
 (Sung text)
by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), "Serenade", op. 70 (Vier Gesänge) no. 3, published 1877 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Simrock
Language: German (Deutsch)
Liebliches Kind,
Kannst du mir sagen,
Warum einsam und stumm
Zärtliche Seelen
Immer sich quälen,
Selbst sich betrüben,
Und ihr Vergnügen
Immer nur ahnen,
Da wo sie nicht sind?
Kannst du mir's sagen,
Liebliches Kind?

3. Mia cara fanciulla
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Mia cara fanciulla,
sai dirmi perché,
perché,
solitarie e mute,
anime delicate
continuano a tormentarsi
e ad affliggersi,
presumendo sempre
di trovare la gioia
solo là dove non sono;
sai dirmi perché,
fanciulla mia cara?

4. Abendregen
 (Sung text)
by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), "Abendregen", op. 70 (Vier Gesänge) no. 4 (1875), published 1877 [ voice and piano ], Berlin, Simrock
Language: German (Deutsch)
Langsam und schimmernd fiel ein Regen,
In den die Abendsonne schien;
Der Wandrer schritt auf engen Wegen
Mit düstrer Seele drunter hin.

Er sah die großen Tropfen blinken
Im Fallen durch den goldnen Strahl;

 Ob meinem fernen, bleichen Namen
Der Ehre Regenbogen stehn.

4. La pioggia della sera
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Lentamente la pioggia cadeva,
scintillando al sole della sera;
sotto di essa avanzava il viandante
per strade strette con animo melanconico.

Vedeva le grosse gocce brillare
Cadendo attraverso i raggi dorati;
le sentiva scendere fresche sul capo
e diceva rabbrividendo per un dolce tormento:

Ora so che un arcobaleno,
Si spiega alto attorno alla mia fronte,
e sul sentiero, che io ho percorso,
si può scorgere fin da lontano.

Mentre coloro che mi stanno vicini,
e che pensano di conoscermi a fondo,
non riescono a vedere bene
come esso brilli per me conciliante.

E così, quando verranno altri giorni,
che stimeranno radioso questo tempo presente,
Sul mio lontano, pallido nome
Resterà l'arcobaleno dell'onore.
