que estar favorablement predisposat amb ella,
malgrat que la llum altiva dels seus ulls
em doni a contracor llur esclat.

per això, tots dos serem malaurats,
car el meu desig és en va
i tu no el vols escoltar.
Quants dies, quantes nits,
quant de temps
he passat planyent-me,
i tu et burles del meu sofriment!
Tu saps, tu sents, tu sents, tu veus la meva pena,
i no t’arriba al cor,
cosa que em fa dubtar
de si tu tens un cor.

Nicht lange, so gibt es Ein Hochzeitsgeläut. Kein Mensch, der mir gut ist, Will nach mir fragen. Wie bang mir zu Muth ist, Wem soll ich's klagen? Die Thränen rinnen Mir übers Gesicht -- Wofür soll ich spinnen, Ich weiß es nicht!

De nit a la cambra de les filoses, allà canten les donzelles, allà riuen els nois del poble, que de pressa giren les rodes! Cadascuna fila el seu vestit de núvia, perquè el seu enamorat estigui content. No trigarà pas massa abans que les campanes toquin a noces. Ningú que em convingui pregunta mai per mi. Estic tan neguitosa, a qui em podria plànyer? Les llàgrimes corren per el meu rostre – per què haig de filar? No ho sé pas!
