Translation by Martin Luther (1483 - 1546)

Psalmus 97 (98)
Language: Latin
1 [Psalmus ipsi David.]
  Cantate Domino canticum novum,
  quia mirabilia fecit.
  Salvavit sibi dextera ejus,
  et brachium sanctum ejus.
2 Notum fecit Dominus salutare suum;
  in conspectu gentium revelavit justitiam suam.
3 Recordatus est misericordiæ suæ,
  et veritatis suæ domui Israël.
  Viderunt omnes termini terræ salutare Dei nostri.
4 Jubilate Deo, omnis terra;
  cantate, et exsultate, et psallite.
5 Psallite Domino in cithara;
  in cithara et voce psalmi;
6 in tubis ductilibus,
  et voce tubæ corneæ.
  Jubilate in conspectu regis Domini:
7 moveatur mare, et plenitudo ejus;
  orbis terrarum, et qui habitant in eo.
8 Flumina plaudent manu;
  simul montes exsultabunt
9 a conspectu Domini:
  quoniam venit judicare terram.
  Judicabit orbem terrarum in justitia,
  et populos in æquitate.

Partly used in Monteverdi's Cantate Domino.

Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Latin
1 [Ein Psalm.]
  Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied;
  denn er tut Wunder.
  Er sieget mit seiner Rechten
  und mit seinem heiligen Arm.
2 Der Herr [läßt sein Heil verkündigen,
  vor]1 den Völkern läßt er seine Gerechtigkeit offenbaren.
3 Er gedenket an seine Gnade und Wahrheit dem Hause Israel.
  Aller Welt Enden sehen das Heil unsers Gottes.
4 Jauchzet dem [Herrn]2, alle Welt;
  singet, rühmet und lobet!
5 Lobet den [Herrn]2 mit Harfen,
  mit Harfen und mit Psalmen;
6 mit Trommeten
  und Posaunen jauchzet
  [vor]3 dem Herrn, dem Könige!
7 Das Meer brause, und was drinnen ist,
  der Erdboden, und die drauf wohnen.
8 Die Wasserströme frohlocken,
  und alle Berge [seien]4 fröhlich
9 [vor]3 dem Herrn;
  denn er [kommt]5, das Erdreich zu richten.
  Er wird den Erdboden richten mit Gerechtigkeit
  und die Völker mit Recht.
