Rufet zu jeder Stunde
Mich mit der Glocken Munde:
Ich harre dein, ich harre dein.

En klokkenluiders troetelkind,
Laat dag en nacht verbeten
Per klokslag aan mij weten:
"O, wees mijn vrind! O, wees mijn vrind!"

Mijn hooggeboor'ne, zeer  bemind,
En klokkenluiders troetelkind,
Geeft mij elk uur een teken,
Zij laat de klokslag spreken:
"Ik wacht een hint! Ik wacht een hint!"

Is niet hoogmoedig -- ik ben niet blind -;
Zij neemt, ja, vaak de treden
Omlaag naar hier beneden,
