Schlaflied
 (Sung text for setting by F. Schubert)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA SPA
Es mahnt der Wald, es ruft der Strom:
"Du liebes Bübchen zu uns komm!"
Der Knabe kommt und staunend weilt,
Und ist von jedem Schmerz geheilt.

Aus Büschen flötet Wachtelschlag,
Mit irren Farben spielt der Tag;
Auf Blümchen roth, auf Blümchen blau
Erglänzt des Himmels feuchter Thau.

Ins frische Gras legt er sich hin:
Läßt über sich die Wolken zieh'n -
An seine Mutter angeschmiegt,
Hat ihn der Traumgott eingewiegt.

Note: Schubert received Mayrhofer's texts generally in handwriting; the printed edition of Mayrhofer's poems appeared much later and presents the texts usually in a revised version.

Slaaplied/Sluimerliedje
 (Sung text translation for setting by F. Schubert)
 See original
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
Het bos vermaant, ook roept de stroom:
"Jij lief klein jochie, kom, och kom!"
De jongen komt, verbaasd, verblijd,
En is snel elk verdrietje kwijt.

Uit bosjes klinkt de kwartelslag,
Met vreemde kleuren speelt de dag;
Op bloempjes rood, op bloempjes blauw
Ligt glanzend 's hemels natte dauw.

In 't frisse gras legt hij zich neer,
- Hoog boven hem gaan wolken teer -.
Zacht in zijn moeders schoot
 gevlijd,
Heeft hem de droomgod al verleid.
