Es mahnt der Wald, es ruft der Strom:
"Du [holdes]1 Bübchen zu uns komm!"
Der Knabe [naht, und staunt, und]2 weilt,
Und ist von [allem]3 Schmerz geheilt.

Aus [Saaten]4 flötet Wachtelschlag,
Mit irren [Lichtern]5 spielt der Tag;
[Und auf den Blümlein in der Au]6
Erglänzt des Himmels feuchter Thau.

Ins [hohe]7 Gras legt er sich hin:
Läßt über sich die Wolken zieh'n -
An [Mutter Erde]8 angeschmiegt,
Hat ihn der Traumgott eingewiegt.

El bosc invoca, el riu crida:
“Eh tu, noiet, vine amb nosaltres!”
El minyó hi va, es meravella i roman,
i és guarit de tots els dolors.

Als matolls canta la guatlla,
el dia s’esplaia amb colors insòlits;
damunt flors vermelles, damunt flors blaves,
el cel fa resplendir la seva rellent rosada.

Ell s’ajeu a l’herba fresca 
i, al seu damunt, deixa passar els núvols,
arrimat a la seva mare natura,
el bressola el déu del somni.
