Aus [Saaten]4 flötet Wachtelschlag,
Mit irren [Lichtern]5 spielt der Tag;
[Und auf den Blümlein in der Au]6
Erglänzt des Himmels feuchter Thau.

Il bosco invoca, il fiume chiama:
“Caro fanciullo, vieni da noi!”
Il fanciullo viene, si stupisce e si attarda
ed è guarito da ogni dolore.

Il canto della quaglia risuona tra i cespugli,
il giorno gioca con insoliti colori,
sui fiorellini rossi, sui fiorellini azzurri
il cielo fa risplendere l’umida rugiada.

Egli si stende nell’erba fresca
e lascia le nubi sfilare sopra di lui,
abbracciato a sua madre;
il dio del sonno lo ha accolto nella sua culla.
