Die wilden Schwäne
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Chinese (中文)
Noch ist der Glanz der Frühe nicht erschienen,
Ich höre, wie der Wind am Fenster rüttelt,
Und meine Träume schwinden ganz dahin.

[ ... ]

Ein grauer Regen düstert in der Landschaft.
Der Nebel weht. Der Fluß wälzt schwere Wogen, --
Doch meinen Jammer wälzt er nicht hinweg.

Auf meines Umhangs dunkelm Tuche schimmert
Der Regen meiner bitterlichen Tränen;
Die wilden Schwäne schreien unter mir.

Ich schüttle meine armen Tränen nieder
Auf die erwachten Vögel, -- fliegt, o Vögel!
Bringt meine Tränen ihm, der mich verzehrt!

S. Koch sets stanzas 1, 4-6

De vilda svanarna
 (Sung text for setting by S. Koch)
 See base text
Language: Swedish (Svenska)  after the German (Deutsch)
Ack, ännu synes icke morgonljuset
jag hör blott huru vinden vildt i fönstret skakar,
och mina drömmar fara långt sin kos.

 ...

Ett gråsvart regnmoln seglar öfver jorden.
Hör stormen gnyr, se flodens vågor jaga,
dock kan min smärta aldrig jagas bort.

På mina fönsters dunkla draperier
ses skimra mina bittra, bittra tårar;
hör svanarna, de vilda, ropa mig.

Jag låter mina bittra tårar flöda
på dessa skrämda fåglar, flygen svanar!
Gif mina tårar den som mig förtär!
