by Nicolas Nuñez (flourished 15th century)
Translation by Paul Heyse (1830 - 1914)

O Vírgen que á Dios pariste
Language: Spanish (Español)
Our translations:  ENG
O Vírgen que á Dios pariste,
y nos diste
á todos tan gran victoria;
tórname alegre de triste,
pues podiste
tornar nuestra pena en gloria.

Señora, á tí me convierte
de tal suerte,
que destruyendo mi mal
yo nada tema la muerte,
y pueda verte
en tu trono angelical.

Pues no manchada naciste,
y mereciste
alcanzar tan gran memoria;
torname alegre de triste,
pues podiste
tornar nuestra pena en gloria.

Die du Gott gebarst, du Reine
(Sung text for setting by H. Wolf)
 Matches base text
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Spanish (Español)
Our translations:  CAT ENG FRE
Die du Gott gebarst, du Reine,
Und alleine
Uns gelöst aus unsern Ketten,
Mach mich fröhlich, der ich weine,
Denn nur deine
Huld und Gnade mag uns retten.

Herrin, ganz zu dir mich wende,
Daß sich ende
Diese Qual und dieses Grauen,
Daß der Tod mich furchtlos fände,
Und nicht blende
Mich das Licht der Himmelsauen.

Weil du unbefleckt geboren,
Auserkoren
Zu des ew'gen Ruhmes Stätten
Wie mich Leiden auch um floren,
Unverloren
Bin ich doch, willst du mich retten.
