Des Sonntags in der Morgenstund',
Wie wandert's sich so schön
Am Rhein, wenn rings in weiter Rund'
Die Morgenglocken gehn!
Ein Schifflein zieht auf blauer Fluth,
Da singt's und jubelt's drein;
Du Schifflein, gelt, das fährt sich gut
In all die Lust hinein?
Vom Dorfe hallet Orgelton,
Es tönt ein frommes Lied,
Andächtig dort die Procession
Aus der Kapelle zieht.
Und ernst in all die Herrlichkeit
Die Burg herniederschaut
Und spricht von alter, starker Zeit,
Die auf den Fels gebaut.
Das Alles beut der prächt'ge Rhein
An seinem Rebenstrand,
Und spiegelt recht im hellsten Schein
Das ganze Vaterland,
Das fromme, deutsche Vaterland
In seiner vollen Pracht,
Mit Lust und Liedern allerhand
Vom lieben Gott bedacht.

Les dimanches, le matin,
Comme il est agréable de se promener
Le long du Rhin, quand tout autour
Les cloches du matin sonnent !
Un petit bateau avance sur le flot bleu,
Là on chante et on pousse des cris d'allégresse ;
Petit bateau, dis, n'est-ce pas bon de voyager
Dans un tel agrément ?
Depuis le village on entend le son de l'orgue,
Entonnant un chant pieux,
Là la procession avec recueillement
Part de la chapelle.
Et gravement dans toute sa splendeur
Le château regarde en bas
Et parle du bon vieux temps
Où il a été construit sur la falaise.
Le Rhin puissant offre toute cela
Sur sa rive couverte de vignes,
Et reflète dans l'éclat le plus brillant
La patrie tout entière.
La patrie pieuse et fidèle
Dans toute sa gloire,
Avec plaisir et chants tout autour
Est contemplée par le Dieu bien-aimé.
Les dimanches, le matin,
