Märzveilchen
(Sung text for setting by N. Gade)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Danish (Dansk)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG

... Gott sei gnädig dem jungen Mann!

March violets
(Sung text translation for setting by N. Gade)
 See original
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The heavens arch above, so pure and blue,
and the frost exhibits its flowers of ice.

The window is sparkling with winter flora.
A young man is standing in front, thinking intently.

And behind the flowers there blossoms
a pair of laughing blue eyes.

March violets, as they flourish there, nobody has ever yet seen such violets.

Frosted flowers now begin to melt,
... God, be lenient with this young man.

Note: changed second line on Sep 8, 2018 thanks to a suggestion by Richard Mix.
