Auf den Blumen flimmern Perlen,
Philomelens Klagen fließen;
Muthiger nun dunkle Erlen
In die [blauen]¹ Lüfte sprießen.

Und dem Thale, so erblichen,
Kehret holde Röthe wieder,
[Und in duftigen Gerüchen]²
Baden Vögel ihr Gefieder.

Hat die Brust sich ausgewittert,
Seitwärts lehnt der Gott den Bogen -
Und sein golden Antlitz zittert
Reiner auf versöhnten Wogen.

Dopo una tempesta

Sui fiori scintillano perle:
il pianto di Filomela che scorre.
Con più fierezza gli scuri ontani
Svettano nell'aria limpida.

E la valle, così impallidita,
Ridiventa di un rosso vezzoso.
Nella fragranza della fioritura
gli uccelli intingono le loro piume.

Quando la tempesta del cuore si è calmata,
il dio poggia l'arco a terra al proprio fianco,
e il suo volto dorato scintilla
più chiaro sulle onde tornate tranquille.
