לשוא אני מחפש בשלג את עיקבותיה במקומות בהם, שלובה בזרועתיי, חצתה את השדות הירוקים. הייתי נושק לקרקע, מבקע את הקרח והשלג בדמעותיי החמות עד אשר אני אראה את האדמה. היכן אמצא פרח? היכן אמצא עשב ירוק? הפרחים כולם נבלו, העשב נראה כה חיוור. האף לא מזכרת אחת אקח אתי מכאן? כאשר ימוגו כאביי, מי יספר לי עליה? לבי כאילו מת ובו דיוקנה מאובן וקר. אם אי פעם ימס לבי, תימוג גם תמונתה?
