Erstarrung
Language: German (Deutsch)

Ich such' im Schnee vergebens
Nach ihrer Tritte Spur,
[Hier, wo wir oft gewandelt
Selbander durch die]1 Flur.

Ich will den Boden küssen,
Durchdringen Eis und Schnee
Mit meinen heißen Thränen,
Bis ich die Erde seh'.

Wo find' ich eine Blüthe,
Wo find' ich grünes Gras?
Die Blumen sind erstorben,
Der Rasen sieht so blaß.

Soll denn kein Angedenken
Ich nehmen mit von hier?
Wenn meine Schmerzen schweigen,
Wer sagt mir dann von ihr?

Mein Herz ist wie [erfroren]2,
Kalt starrt ihr Bild darin:
Schmilzt je das Herz mir wieder,
Fließt auch [das]3 Bild dahin.

Congelamento
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Io cerco invano nella neve
la traccia del suo passo,
dove lei, al mio braccio,
passava per i prati verdi.

Io voglio baciare il suolo,
perforare ghiaccio e neve
con le mie ardenti lacrime,
fino a vedere la terra!

Dove trovo un fiore,
dove trovo erba verde?
I fiori sono morti,
il prato è così pallido.

Non devo portarmi
nessun ricordo da qui?
Quando il mio dolore si sarà calmato,
chi mi parlerà di lei?

Il mio cuore è come morto,
fredda porta l'immagine di lei;
se mi si strugge il cuore,
scompare anche l'immagine!
