Le long du Quai, les grands vaisseaux
Language: French (Français)
Available translation(s): DUT ENG GER HEB HUN ITA SPA
Le long du Quai, les grands vaisseaux,
Que la houle incline en silence,
Ne prennent pas garde aux berceaux,
Que la main des femmes balance.

Mais viendra le jour des adieux,
Car il faut que les femmes pleurent,
Et que les hommes curieux
Tentent les horizons qui leurrent!

Et ce jour-là les grands vaisseaux,
Fuyant le port qui diminue,
Sentent leur masse retenue
Par l'âme des lointains berceaux.

Langs de Kade letten de grote schepen
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the French (Français)
Langs de Kade letten de grote schepen,
Stilletjes deinend op de golven,
Niet op de wiegjes,
Gewiegd door vrouwenhanden.

Maar de dag van het afscheid nadert,
De vrouwen zullen in tranen zijn,
Lonkende horizonten lokken
De nieuwsgierige mannen!

En op die dag voelen de grote schepen,
Terwijl de haven uit het zicht verdwijnt,
Zich in hun vertrek belemmerd
Door de ziel van de verre wiegjes.
