Ógánach ar an gcnocán Is é ag déanamh bróin; Is tháinig le gach ochlán Na srutháiníní deor. Bhí uainíní ag pramsáil In aice leis an aill, An chaise is í ag damhsa Is deoir amháin níor chaill. Na féileacáin ag síor-ól As dearg-bhéal na mbláth Is néalta mar bhrionglóidí Ag fáiltiú roimh an lá. Is bhí an domhan go haerach Is ar a sháimhín só An t-ógánach mo léan géar – A chroí chomh trom le bró. Uch, clingeann an chreill bháis Sa ghráig ard is glé Is cloistear ins gach aird Macalla toll an léin. Is chonaic sé na tóirsí - An tsochraid ar an ród- Is gearr go mbeadh a Róisín Á hadhlacadh faoin bhfód. Is íslíodh an chónra Is tosnaíodh ar shluaisteáil: An chré ’bhí ann i gcónaí Ag cré arís á fáil. Is stop ansin dá éagaoin Is thosnaigh sé ag guí Go mbeadh siad beirt le chéile Go deo is go síoraí. Féach seo amach na réaltaí, An ré ag gluaiseacht léi Is chonaic sé sna spéartha An dóchas ’bhí le léamh.
