by Dmitry Sergeyevich Merezhkovsky (1865 - 1941)

Don Kikhot
Language: Russian (Русский)
Shlem - nadtresnutoje bljudo,
Shchit - kartonnyj, pancir' zhalkij.
V stremenakh visjat, kachajas',
Nogi toshchije, kak palki.

Dlja nego khromaja kljacha -
Kon' moguchij Rossinanta,
`Eti mel'nichnye kryl'ja -
Ruki moshchnogo giganta.

Vidit on v taverne grjaznoj
Roskosh' carskogo chertoga,
Slyshit v dudke svinopasa
Zvuk serebrjanogo roga.

Sankho Panca jedet rjadom;
Gordyj vid jego ser'ezen:
Kak prilichno kop'enoscu,
On velichestven i grozen.

V krasnoj jubke, v pjatnakh degtja,
Tam, nad kuchami navoza -
`Eta carstvennaja dama -
Dul'cineja de Tobozo...

Strastno, s junosheskim zharom
On tolpe krest'jan golodnykh,
Vmesto khleba, rassypajet
Perly myslej blagorodnykh:

"Ljudi dobrye, likujte, -
Nastupajet prazdnik vechnyj;
Mir ne solncem ozaritsja,
A ljubov'ju beskonechnoj...

Budut vse ravny; drug druga
Perestanut nenavidet';
Ni al'kady, ni barony
Ne posmejut vas obidet'.

Pojte, brat'ja, gimn pobednyj!
`Etot mech neset svobodu,
Spravedlivost' i vozmezd'e
Ugnetennomu narodu!"

Iz prikhodskoj shkoly deti
Vybegajut, brosiv knizhki,
I khokhochut, i kidajut
Grjaz'ju v rycarja mal'chishki.

Aplodiruja, kak zritel',
Zhirnyj lavochnik smejetsja;
Na kryl'ce svojem traktirshchik
Ves' ot khokhota trjasetsja.

I pochtennyj pater smotrit,
Izumlenijem ob"jatyj,
I gromit bezum'e veka
On latinskoju citatoj.

Iz okna gljadit cirjul'nik,
On prerval svoju rabotu,
I s vostorgom mashet britvoj,
I krichit on Don Kikhotu:

"Blagorodnejshij iz smertnykh,
Ja zhelaju vam uspekha!.."
I ne v silakh konchit' frazy,
Zadykhajetsja ot smekha.

On ne chuvstvujet, ne vidit
Ni nasmeshek, ni prezren'ja:
Krotkij lik jego tak svetel,
Ochi - polny vdokhnoven'ja.

On smeshon; no skol'ko detskoj
Dobroty v ulybke nezhnoj,
I v lice, prostom i blednom,
Stol'ko very bezmjatezhnoj.

I ljubov', i vera svjaty.
`Etoj veroju sogrety
Vse velikije bezumcy,
Vse proroki i po`ety!
