Das Lied der Waise

Ich bin niemand und werde auch niemand sein.
Jetzt bin ich ja zum Sein noch zu klein;
aber auch später.
 
Mütter und Väter,
erbarmt euch mein.
 
Zwar es lohnt nicht des Pflegens Müh:
ich werde doch gemäht.
Mich kann keiner brauchen: jetzt ist es zu früh
und morgen ist es zu spät.
 
Ich habe nur dieses eine Kleid,
es wird dünn und es verbleicht,
aber es hält eine Ewigkeit
auch noch vor Gott vielleicht.
 
Ich habe nur dieses bißchen Haar
(immer dasselbe blieb),
das einmal Eines Liebstes war.
 
Nun hat er nichts mehr lieb.

Je suis personne et serai aussi personne.
Je suis maintenant trop petite pour exister ;
mais c'est aussi trop tard.

Mères et pères,
ayez pitié de moi.

Il est vrai que ça n'en vaut pas la peine :
je serai quand même tondue.
Je ne suis utile à personne : c'est aujourd'hui trop tôt
et demain ce sera trop tard.

Je n'ai que cette seule robe,
elle est élimée et passée,
mais elle durera une éternité,
peut-être jusque devant Dieu.

Je n'ai que ces maigres cheveux
(restés toujours les mêmes),
qui furent un jour chéris par quelqu'un.

Aujourd'hui il n'aime plus rien.
